Butchered shrub

I've never cut a shrub with an electric trimmer before today. I pretty much butchered it! lol Is there a technique to this anyway?? sheesh. It's like a bad hair cut. You want it even so you keep going shorter....only this bush just ended up uneven because I had Sean finish the right side and he wasn't as aggressive as I was. Anyway, It looks so much better than before. We also cleaned the whole yard, front and back and I "power washed" the front porch area. It looks much better now. 8 weeks till we move! It will look really nice before then :) Since that's the way it looked when we got here.
